At the heart of the Sarnia Primary School badge lies a simple yet powerful symbol: a bundle of sticks.
This image comes from an old story about a father who wanted to teach his children an important lesson. His children often argued and struggled to work together. One day, he gave each child a single stick and asked them to break it. Easily, they snapped the sticks in two.
Then he tied several sticks together into a bundle and asked them to break it. This time, no matter how hard they tried, they could not.
Through this, the father showed them that while one stick alone is weak, many sticks bound together are strong.
This lesson lives on in our school motto: “Unity is Strength.”
The bundle of sticks on our badge reminds us every day that we are stronger when we stand together, supporting, encouraging, and respecting one another. As learners, teachers, and a community, we each play a part. Alone we can do little, but together we can achieve great things.
At Sarnia Primary, our badge is more than just a symbol, it is a promise of who we are and how we grow: united, resilient, and strong.
Lethu and Sam were inseparable. From climbing mango trees to racing down dusty village paths, they were always together – always dreaming, always curious.
One bright morning, as the sun lit the dew on the grass like diamonds, Lethu flopped down beside Sam under their favourite tree.
“Sam,” he said, gazing up at the sky, “do you think there’s a secret to living a happy, successful life?”
Sam sat up, brushing twigs from her hair. “If there is, I want to find it.”
And just like that, their adventure began.
At Sarnia Primary School, we are dedicated to preparing learners not only for academic success, but for life beyond the classroom. We focus on developing confident, capable and well-rounded individuals who are ready to embrace future challenges with curiosity and resilience.
